Power over Single Pair Ethernet with BE-IIS-HPP-T1S and PoSPE over 100 m YV Cable
10BASE-T1S enables Ethernet communication over a single twisted pair and is well suited for compact embedded and industrial evaluation setups.
In this practical test, the BE-IIS-HPP-T1S is combined with the BE-IIS-HPP-PoSPE companion board to demonstrate data communication and power delivery over the same single-pair cable.
Test Setup
The setup shown in the video uses:
- 2 × Raspberry Pi 5
- 2 × BE-IIS-HPP-T1S HATs
- 2 × BE-IIS-HPP-PoSPE companion boards
- 1 × 100 m YV cable
Each Raspberry Pi 5 is equipped with one BE-IIS-HPP-T1S and one BE-IIS-HPP-PoSPE board.

The first Raspberry Pi is supplied from an external power supply.
The second Raspberry Pi is powered over the data line through the 100 m single-pair cable.
During the test, an active Ethernet data connection is running at the same time.
Power over Single Pair Ethernet
The BE-IIS-HPP-PoSPE board is designed as a companion board for the BE-IIS Single Pair Ethernet HATs.
It can be used together with:
- BE-IIS-HPP-T1S
- BE-IIS-HPP-T1L
In the shown setup, the PoSPE board is used together with the BE-IIS-HPP-T1S.
The power path supports up to:
33 V
1 A
This allows a remote Raspberry Pi system to be supplied over the same cable that is also used for Ethernet communication.
Result
The video demonstrates a working 10BASE-T1S data link over a 100 m YV cable while the remote Raspberry Pi is powered over the same single-pair connection.
The measured throughput is around:
9.5 Mbit/s
This shows that the BE-IIS-HPP-T1S and BE-IIS-HPP-PoSPE combination can be used for practical Raspberry Pi based Single Pair Ethernet evaluation setups with data and power over one cable.
Conclusion
This test demonstrates a compact Power over Single Pair Ethernet setup using two Raspberry Pi 5 systems.
The BE-IIS-HPP-T1S provides the 10BASE-T1S data connection, while the BE-IIS-HPP-PoSPE companion board enables power delivery over the same single-pair cable.
The test does not replace formal compliance testing with specified cabling.
However, it shows that the BE-IIS HAT++ ecosystem can be used for practical evaluation, prototyping, and demonstration of Single Pair Ethernet systems with combined data and power transmission.
